Ronnie Hallgren leaves his position as CEO at the Göteborg Opera
At his own request, Ronnie Hallgren, CEO for Göteborg Opera AB since August 2014, has decided to end his assignment.
“To have been part of the management of one the leading opera houses in Northern Europe has been a true gift. The staff is distinguished by an immense knowledge and awareness of quality, as well as dedication and innovation. My three years as CEO of the Göteborg Opera have been intense and fast-paced. I’m very proud of what we have accomplished together.”
During his time as CEO for the Göteborg Opera, Ronnie Hallgren has – among other things – enhanced the Göteborg Opera’s work on diversity and equality issues, improved in-house work processes, developed the business plan, appointed a new Artistic Director Dance, Katrín Hall, as well as a number of senior managers.
Ronnie Hallgren’s long career in Swedish performing arts began in 1974. He has been appointed as Artistic Director, Theatre Manager and director. He has worked with productions for Swedish National Radio and Swedish National Television, and held a professorship at Iowa University, US, where he staged Strindberg’s “A Dream Play”. At the age of 69, Ronnie Hallgren has now decided to end his assignment as CEO at the Göteborg Opera.
“Ronnie Hallgren can look back on a successful career at several of Sweden’s major theatres. When ending his employment, he can add a successful management of one of the leading opera houses in Northern Europe to his many qualifications. We would like to thank Ronnie Hallgren for his fine work regarding the Göteborg Opera, as well as the cultural life in Sweden, and wish him all the best for the future before him,” says Tord Gustafsson (m), Chairman of the Göteborg Opera Board.
A specific date for Ronnie Hallgren’s resignation is not yet decided. The recruitment process in finding his successor as CEO will start immediately.
