The Göteborg Ballet performs at Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival .

For the first time ever, The Göteborg Ballet will be participating in the Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival in the US. The dance festival is one of the biggest in North America, with over fifty dance companies participating.

The Göteborg Ballet is one of only three European dance companies invited to the festival. The company will perform 3xBoléro, the extremely successful production from 2008, with works by Alexander Ekman, Johan Inger and Kenneth Kvarnström. The ballet will give six performances between August 18 and 22.

"It’s a fantastic opportunity to show off the dance talent and the work done on the dance arena by The Göteborg Ballet and the region of Västra Götaland. Jacob’s Pillow provides us with a stepping stone onto the American dance scene, which will hopefully lead to future performances in major US cities," says Head of Ballet Johannes Öhman.

Johannes Öhman will personally participate in a discussion regarding 3xBoléro during the festival. The CEO of The Göteborg Opera, Peter Hansson, and the chairman of the Västra Götaland regional cultural department, Lars Nordström, will also visit the dance festival.

The prestigious Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival takes place every summer in Massachusetts, USA. This year will prove the 78th annual instalment of the festival. During the approximately two month long festival, prestigious dance companies from all over the world gather along with talented young choreographers, dance students from Jacob’s Pillow, lecturers and musicians.

Each year features world premières and US premières; 3xBoléro is one of the latter. This US performance forms the start of this season’s extensive tour by The Göteborg Ballet. Next up this autumn is Dansens Hus (The House of Dance) in both Oslo and Stockholm. In the spring the ballet will perform in France, Switzerland and Serbia.
