Dance with Skapa

Dance with Skapa

Skapa Dance focuses on reaching out to children and youth, using dance.

Skapa Dance welcomes anyone who is curious about dance and keen to learn about dance as an art form and encounter the dancers of GöteborgsOperans Danskompani in new ways. Through conversations, workshops, physical activities, open rehearsals, Q&A sessions and much more, both individuals and groups get to experience and explore the nature and potential of contemporary dance.

Meet the Ministry

From September 2018 until June 2019 15 young people will take part in a project called ”Meet the Ministry”. By participating, they will get a unique insight into a professional creation process by going behind the scenes for Jo Strømgren’s new creation The Ministry of Unresolved Feelings. They will also experiment with both movement and narrative together with dancers from GöteborgsOperans Danskompani. The participants will get the chance to be co-creators of digital material, where they will share share their experiences from the process.

During the Göteborg Opera Dance Festival in June the group will present what was created during the season.

Earlier projects

Choreographers Andrea Palombi and Sara Lourenco created pix.Els for dancers from GöteborgsOperans Danskompani and eight young dancers. The piece challenges us to see the conflicts between the human and the digital.

Previously teachers for years K–3 were annually invited to partake in our projekt ”Dansmakarna”. The aim was to involve dance and movement in regular lessons, and the project continued over a school year. Each project ended with a performance on our Small Stage of the choreographies that classes had created, during ”Dansens dag” (Dance Day).
