Marie Lambert studied literature in Paris and Bologna before training in directing at La Scala. She staged an acclaimed production of Leoncavallo’s Zazà for Opera Holland Park. She was the associate director for Madama Butterfly (La Monnaie) and La Cenerentola (Opéra de Paris). She is dramaturg of the Entropy conference featuring music by Dopplereffekt. She collaborated with Hee-Won Lee on her VR film The Rain. She translated Offenbach's operetta Vent du Soir into italian for the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino.
As performer and director, she worked on plays by Marivaux, Schnitzler, Goldoni, Calaferte and Molière. She collaborated extensively with directors Piero Faggioni and David McVicar. Other collaborations include projects with Anne-James Chaton, Guillaume Gallienne, Kirsten Dehlholm/Hotel Pro Forma, Chiara Muti, Pascal Rogé, Ferzan Özpetek and Liliana Cavani.
