The German-Norwegian mezzo-soprano Lena Haselmann was born in Heidelberg. Under the scholarship of the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes, she studied at the University for Music and Performing Arts in Mannheim and later graduated at the Academy of Music in Nürnberg-Augsburg. She has participated in several masterclasses, e.g. the Bach Academy Stuttgart, where she made her debut as a concert singer under the direction of Helmuth Rilling. Haselmann has also been a soloist under the direction of Christoph Eschenbach with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in Serenade to Music by Vaughan Williams. Lena Haselmann has won several vocal competitions and has received several scholarships, e.g. from the Willy-Brandt-Foundation. Since 2010 she is a regular guest at the Junge Staatsoper Berlin. She receantly appeared in the Festival Infektion! at the Staatsoper Berlin in Songbooks from John Cage, i Lucia Ronchettis Lezioni di Tenebra and i Salvatore Sciarrinos Macbeth.
