Kerstin Perski is a playwright, librettist, author, and freelance dramaturgist, active both in Sweden and internationally since 1988. She studied at Dramatiska institutet in Stockholm and has written the librettos for a number of Swedish and Danish operas, including Vargen kommer, Sötskolan, Ärret, and Skriftestolen. She has recently written librettos for two new operas in addition to Notorious: Son of Heaven, for the Vadstena Academy with music by Moto Osada, which premiered in July 2015; and Strandad for the Swedish Royal Opera with music by Karin Rehnqvist, planned to premiere in 2017–18.
Her recent plays include Dream Business at Stockholm’s Orion Theater in 2013; Vi faller inte! at Stockholm’s Jewish Theater in 2004; Namn: Spielrein Sabina, which had its world premiere at the Stockholm Stadsteater in 2005; and Charlotte Löwensköld, which had its world premiere at the Stadsteater in 2008.
Perski has also written modern Swedish texts for such classics of musical theater as Die lustige Witwe and Die Entführung aus dem Serail. Her first novel, Glasdörren, was published by Starfalk in 2003, and in 2012 she published the short story collection Engångsvarelse with Gabor & Perski.
