Katarina Giotas

Mezzo soprano Katarina Giotas graduated from University College of Opera in Stockholm in 2000, but had already débuted at Confidencen in Stockholm as Cherubino in Le Nozze de Figaro, a role she reprised with great success at Folkoperan as well as at The Göteborg Opera.

At The Göteborg Opera she has sung the roles of Suzuki in Madama Butterfly, Fjodor in Boris Godunov, Amschel in K. Description of a Struggle, the dual roles of Hertiginnan of Osuna and Leocadia in Daniel Börtz's newly scribed opera Goya, the Third Lady in Die Zauberflöte in 2009, and Judith in Duke Bluebeard's Castle in 2015.

Other notable roles include Don Ramiro in La finta giardiniera at The Royal Swedish Opera/The Vasa Theatre, Lucilla in La Scala di Seta at Malmö Opera, Carmen with Parkteatern in Stockholm, The Cunning Little Vixen as an animated film with The European Opera Centre, Fenena i Nabucco at Wermland Opera, Lazuli in Chabrier's L’Étoile at Läckö Slottsopera, Public Opion/Cupidon in Orphée aux enfers and Phèdre in Hippolyte et Aricie at Folkoperan, the Third Lady in Die Zauberflöte at The Royal Swedish Opera as well as Fadela in Svall, the new Daniel Börtz opera which was a co-production between The Royal Swedish Opera, Folkoperan and NorrlandsOperan. The Swedish tour of Schönberg's Pierrot Lunaire, Queen Kristina in Daniel Börtz's newly written opera Magnus Gabriel at Läckö Slottsopera, Suzuki in Madama Butterfly at The Royal Danish Opera in Copenhagen, Amneris in Aida at Teatro Massimo in Palermo, Charlotte in Werther in Tartu, Estland, Carmen at La Fenice in Venice and Octavian in Der Rosenkavalier at Deutsches Nationaltheater in Weimar.
