Hans Ek, conductor and musical director has for been active for 25 years in a variety of contexts in the Swedish music scene, on the boundaries between classical music, jazz, pop and folk music. He has performed with artists such as Veronica Maggio, Petter, Salem al Fakir, Tommy Körberg, Michael Nyman and Jenny Wilson. In recent years, his work has included a new version of Monteverdi's opera L'Orfeo, he has worked with the EST Symphony project as well composing The Nordan Suite together with Ale Möller. For several years, Hans Ek has been responsible for the music during the Polar Music Prize ceremony. He has also orchestrated and conducted music for films such as Let the Right One In, Susanne Bier's In a Better World and most recently the Oscar-nominated blockbuster Kon-Tiki. Hans Ek has been the Musical Director for Kristina from Duvemåla since its revival premiere at the Swedish Theatre in Helsinki in 2012.
