Gaia Petrone, mezzo-soprano is a graduate of the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome and the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. Some of her performance includes Apollonia La Canterina at the Festival dell'Intermezzo, Lisetta Il mondo della luna at the Teatro Bonci in Cesena and created the roles of Pitura and Alinda in the world premiere of Cavalli-Stradella's Il novello Giasone at the Valle d'Itria Festival. In 2012, Gaia Petrone joined the young ensemble of Theater an der Wien and performed such roles as Clarina in La cambiale di matrimonio, Medoro in Orlando, Sibari in Semiramide riconosciuta, Sesto in La Clemenza di Tito In the winter of 2013/14 she sang the title role of Cenerentola. Shortly after she made her US debut as Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia at Palm Beach Opera and appeared as Pisana in the Theater an der Wien production of I due Foscani with Placido Domingo and James Conlon. In concert, she has performed Vivaldi's Gloria both with the Gruppo d'Archi Veneto and the Wiener Kammersymphonie at Vienna's Musikverein. She has also appeared in concert at the Teatro Sociale de Rovigo, and the Teatro Comunale de Vicenza with the Regionale Filarmonia Veneta. Her discography includes a live recording of Haydn Il mondo della luna and Czerny's transcription of Mozart's Requiem. Engagements in 2014/15 include Ippolita Elena at the Aix-en-Provence Festival in Sable-sur-Sarthe and on tour to Nantes, Angers and Rennes, and her UK debut in Handel’s Messiah with Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.
