Carina Söderman is a Musical Artist who, after graduating from Kulturama Upper Secondary School in Stockholm, went on to study drama at the University of Gothenburg and train as an actor at the Malmö Theatre Academy. Carina Söderman has toured with Riksteatern (the National Theatre Company) since 1986, performing in, among others, Stop the World - I Want to Get Off, The Threepenny Opera, The Fiddler on the Roof and Zorba. Carina has appeared in Les Misérables at the Cirkus in Stockholm and also played the role of ‘Ulrika in Västergöhl’ in the musical Kristina from Duvemåla at the Malmö Opera, the Göteborg Opera and the Cirkus. At the Göteborg Opera, Carina has performed roles such as the Bird Lady in Mary Poppins, Madame Renaud in La Cage aux Folles, Patricia Fodor in Crazy for You and Scrooge in A Christmas Carol. She has also starred in the Phantom of the Opera and Jul-trad-i-trion.
At the Östgöta Theatre, Carina appeared as Alice in the European premiere of the Addams Family and as Mother Superior in The Sound of Music. At the Säffle Opera, Carina played the role of Miss Hannigan in the musical Annie.
Carina Söderman’s professional career as a Musical Artist also include performances at the Borås City Theatre, the Skillinge Theatre as well as guest performances at the Stockholm City Theatre, Folkteatern in Gothenburg, Helsingborg City Theatre, Gothenburg City Theatre and Småland’s Music and Theatre in roles such as Lena in Lena and Percy, the Prairie Dog by Jonas Gardell and Claire in the Maids by Jean Genet. Carina has also toured with 123 SCHTUNK where she, in their version of Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya, played the role of the clown Sonja.
On Swedish television, Carina has appeared in, for example, Poliser, Svaleskär and Olycksfågeln. Film roles include the role of Rakel in the film The Cockpit and in the animated film Märta Proppmätt, Carina can be heard as the voice-over for the goldfish in the title role.
