Birthe Wingren studied the drama programme at the Theatre Academy in Helsinki, followed by a three year contract at the Åbo Svenska Teater, where she made her debut in the role as Anne in La Cage aux Folles. Birthe then went on to freelance as an actor at various Finland-Swedish and Finnish theatres. At the Swedish Theatre in Helsinki, her collaborations include My Fair Lady, where she played the role of Eliza, the Intermezzo trilogy at Johannis, En ängel flög förbi and Här någonstans by Joakim Groth, Stjärnornas kungabarn, where she played the role of Queen Kristina, Aleksis Kivi's Sju Bröder in the role as Simeoni and as Sally in Cabaret. At Wasa Teater, she played the role of Masha in Three Sisters, directed by Ralf Långbacka. At Helsinki City Theatre, she played Anita in West Side Story and Eponine in Les Misérables. At Teater Viirus, Birthe performed the role of Sharla in Killer Joe, Anna in Closer, Laura in Strindberg's The Father and Mietze in Berlin Alexanderplatz. In 2009, she made a guest appearance once more at Åbo Svenska Teater and played the title role in the musical Evita. She has also played the role as Maria Kallio in the TV series Gränsfall and Dollar-Hanna in the film Colorado Avenue, and she has been a member of the a capella group FORK. Birthe also played the role of Ulrika in Kristina from Duvemåla at the Swedish Theatre in Helsinki. The Theatre in Helsinki.
