Åsa Fång trained at the Ballet Academy in Gothenburg, specialising in musicals, from 1991 to 1994 and has participated in a number of well-known musicals. At the Malmö Opera, Åsa has performed roles such as Mrs Wormwood in the musical Matilda, Mrs Wilkingsson in Billy Elliot, Lauren in Kinky Boots, Jente in in the Fiddler on the Roof, Katarina in Pippin, Spider Woman in the Kiss of the Spider Woman, Fröken Öken in the Electric Banana Band and Maria Magdalena in Jesus Christ Superstar.
Further roles include Ellen in Miss Saigon,Tonya in Dr Zhivago, Mrs Van Hopper in Rebecca and Charlotte Malcom in Smiles of a Summer Night.
At the Göteborg Opera, Åsa has been seen in roles such as Elle in Miss Saigon and in the musical Evita.
Åsa earned special recognition for her faultless and personal interpretation of Edith Piaf and critically acclaimed performance in Edith Piaf - La Vie et L’amour which premiered at the Göteborg Opera in 2002. Åsa has also performed in shows such as Brel meets Piaf - the Sparrow and Rebel.
Other performances include the 25 Years Jubilee Show of Robert Gustafsson, Sally Bowles in the Cabaret at the Nöjesteatern in Malmö, Christine Colgate in the Dirty Rotten Scoundrels at the Cirkus in Stockholm and finally, the Evil Witch in the Wizard of Oz at the Liseberg Theatre in Gothenburg which won her the Golden Mask Award.
In addition to releasing a CD titled Åsa Fång sings Edith Piaf - La Vie et L’amour, Åsa has participated in various Swedish television programmes such as Så ska det låta, Doobidoo and Dieselråttor och Sjömansmöss. Further performances include roles in the film series about the police officer Johan Falk.
