Dear audience

Due to the current pandemic situation, the Göteborg Opera has decided to postpone our longed-for re-opening. All public events will be canceled up until and including 8 January. The Göteborg Opera Restaurant, Cafés and bars will be closed.

We are of course receiving many questions about tickets, and how sales will proceed. The Göteborg Opera closed its doors to the public on 12 March 2020 and almost all ticket sales for the season’s productions were put on hold. Tickets had however been sold to several performances before all sales were put on hold. The productions in spring 2021 are not yet on sale.

Please keep yourself up to date about future ticket releases by subscribing to our newsletter. You’ll also find information about the range of digital broadcasts, while waiting for live experiences.  Subscribe to our newsletter here

A safe visit

To make everyone’s experience during their visit safe and secure as well as enriching and uplifting, when we may finally welcome you back to the auditorium, the following measures will be in place:

General information
Before your visit
Food & drink
When you arrive at the opera
During intermission
After the performance

General information

A maximum of 50 audience members are allowed in the Main Stage auditorium, which has almost 1 300 seats. This ensures that you will be able to maintain a safe distance from other visitors. Every second row of seats will remain empty, and there will be two empty seats on either side of you or your group. For everyone’s safety, we remind you that it is forbidden to use these empty seats.

Markings, signs and ushers will help everyone maintain the prescribed distance. Please follow all instructions carefully. Ushers will be present, at a safe distance, to help you follow the rules. You can also consult the ushers if you have any questions or need more information.

There are several stations with hand sanitiser located around the foyer.

We wash and disinfect contact surfaces several times during the evening.

There are toilets on every floor.

Before your visit

We recommend that you buy your tickets and pre-book a table and/or intermission refreshments on our website.

Please arrive in good time before the performance. You will need to arrive at least 15 minutes before the performance starts.

Check that your ticket is marked with the words “Anpassad salong”.

Food & drink

We have reduced the number of tables in the restaurant and café, so can accommodate fewer guests than usual.

Restaurant: We recommend that you pre-book your table here. Payment will be taken directly at your table. If you have booked a table in the restaurant, please arrive at the time indicated in your confirmation.

Intermission refreshments: We recommend that you pre-book the things you want to eat and drink. The easiest way to do this by submitting this form or by calling +46 31 13 13 00. Payment will be taken directly at your table.

The Opera Bar is currently closed.

When you arrive at the opera

Ushers will be present right from the entrance to help you keep distance from other groups.

The ushers will check your ticket from a safe distance. If there is any information that applies specifically to your seat, the ushers will let you know. For instance, they might need to tell you what part of the row your seat is in (centre or end of row).

Clear instructions are displayed at the cloakrooms to ensure a steady flow and prevent congestion.

The doors to the auditorium open 30 minutes before the performance.

During the intermission

If you were unable to pre-book your refreshments, you can order them directly over the counter in our café.

After the performance

Please follow the ushers’ instructions carefully. They will guide you to the right place and keep visitors moving steadily through the foyer.

If you have items in the cloakroom, we strongly recommend that only one person per tag goes to pick them up.

We also remind you:

  • Stay at home if you are experiencing symptoms and for at least two days after symptoms have passed. (Re-booking protection is currently included for all performances up until 31 January 2021. This gives you the right to re-book your ticket up to 1 hour before the performance.)
  • Use the hand sanitising stations in the foyer.
  • Stay distanced from each other and from other groups.
  • Our safety measures are under constant review and may be changed and/or increased based on government decisions and the Public Health Agency of Sweden’s guidelines. This means that we might quickly have to make new decisions that affect your plans to visit us. On this page, you will always find the latest information in preparation for your visit.

If you have any questions, you can contact the box office: + 46 31 13 13 00.
