All performances in August are cancelled
Our goal and plan has always been to open the season according to plan, but our primary and most important focus is the health and safety of our audience and staff. The recommendations and guidelines from the Swedish Public Health Agency (Folkhälsomyndigheten) has led to our owners (Region Västra Götaland), board and CEO deciding to cancel all performances and public activities for the month of August, which applies to the Main and Small stages and the foyer in Gothenburg, our stage in Skövde and tours in Region Västra Götaland.
If you have purchased a ticket to one of the cancelled performances, you will be contacted by our box office staff as quickly as we are able (usually via email).
When will you re-open?
We are now continuing plans to be able to open our doors as soon as advice changes, but when that will be or how many people we may allow into our auditoriums we do not yet know (at the time of writing, 26 June). We are preparing to open to a limited audience, but are unsure of exact numbers allowed as yet, as this wholly depends on recommendations and decisions from Folkhälsomyndigheten, the government and our owners. At the moment we are selling a limited amount of tickets to performances with dates after August.
To be as prepared as we can, we’re preparing for different scenarios. No matter how large or small our audiences will be, we will create an environment as secure as possible from infection-risk for our guests and staff.
As soon as we know more, we will communicate it as clearly and promptly as possible.
The public operations of the Göteborg Opera have been cancelled since 12 March as a result of governmental directives and recommendations from Region Västra Götaland to limit the infection rates of the novel coronavirus (covid-19).
As soon as we know how many people we can welcome into our auditoriums, we will distribute clear information about how a visit to our locales will be conducted: ticket purchases at the box office, ticket checks at the entrance, visits to our restaurant, bar and cafés, wardrobe, toilet queues, safe distancing in the auditorium and foyer – all to create as safe and hygienic an environment as possible. This applies to all of our stages and locales, in Gothenburg and Skövde. We want you to feel as safe, well-informed and welcome as possible when you can finally return to visit us.
If you have further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or +46 31 13 13 00.
Our box office has variable telephone times and opening hours.
