All performances until 31 October are cancelled
To limit the spread of infection of the coronavirus, all public events have been cancelled at the Göteborg Opera since 12 March due to the Swedish government’s prohibitions and restrictions, and the strict recommendation from our owner, Region Västra Götaland. The decision applies to all public events at the Main and Small stages and the foyer in Gothenburg, our stage in Skövde and tours.
Well into September, our owner’s decision to not allow audiences remains firm. To enable as good an opening as possible, we're now taking a deep breath and preparing for four premieres in November: Out of Time, Cabaret, Tosca and Siegfried. This means, that all public events planned for October will be cancelled.
If you have purchased tickets to one of the cancelled performances, you will be contacted by our box office as quickly as possible – usually via e-mail. Thank you for your understanding.
When will you re-open?
We plan to open our doors 1 November, but we do not yet know if we’re allowed or how many people may attend. This depends entirely on directives from the government and our owners.
We are currently selling a limited amount of tickets to performance dates after 31 October.
What will my visit be like?
No matter how large or small our audiences will be, we will create an environment as secure as possible from infection-risk for both our guests and staff. We will distribute clear information about how a visit to our locales will be conducted: entering the foyer, ticket checks, visits to our restaurant, bar and cafés, wardrobe, toilet queues, safe distancing in the auditorium and foyer – all to create as safe and hygienic environment as possible.
We want you to feel and be as safe, well-informed and welcome as possible when you can finally return to visit us.
Public operations at the Göteborg Opera have been cancelled since 12 March as a result of governmental directives and recommendations from Region Västra Götaland to limit the spread of infection of the novel coronavirus (covid-19).
