It is a February night in 1986 at a hotel somewhere in Sweden. The hotel is closing down.
The waitress Zvea is setting the tables in the dining room in preparation for the guests that are – hopefully – coming.
The hired musicians are tuning their instruments. In anticipation of the guests, Zvea starts telling the story of her life, of the hotel where she has worked for 50 years and of the people she has met and who in various ways have influenced her life. The story is accompanied by songs and music from the 1920’s until today. The historic aspect is reinforced through authentic radio broadcasts and quotes from Swedish movies.
