Dance Performance Transition - Part of GIBCA Extended
Is this true, or do we continue to behave and consume in exactly the same manner with the idea of a transition baiting us towards blind apathy?
In this piece the choreographic duo Kassell and Zackariassen attempt to establish a dialogue with the public through sharing the performance space and giving the audience autonomy to customize the way they choose to experience the work.
By allowing the public to view a dance piece from the inside and be physically immersed in the performance space, the audience is offered a perspective of dance usually denied by the conventions of theater tradition and architecture.
Transition was created for the “Ny Koreografi” residency at Atalante and premiered on 22nd of February 2017, presenting 4 performances over 2 evenings.
The piece was then selected to be shown in the GIBCA festival as part of the satellite project GIBCA Extended. This autumn the piece will revive through a small tour of Gothenburg and the region; premiering on Lilla Scenen at GöteborgsOperan on October 30, then moving on to play at Nordiska Akvarellmuseet ai Tjörn, 3e Våningen at Sockerbruket and Konstkollektivet in Mölndal.
Transition is a completely independent work funded by various state art grants, created for and performed by freelance artists.
We feel very privileged to be hosted by GöteborgsOperan during this festival. The piece is about 35 mins long and hosts between 30 to 40 audience members.
The 30th of October we will offer 2 showings back to back, the first starting at 18.30 and the second at 20.00.
