Symphonic Summer Concert
The Göteborg Opera Orchestra on regional tour with Mozart, Beethoven and Weber.
The Göteborg Opera Orchestra is comprised of musicians from 18 countries. It’s the only orchestra to have won Svenska Dagbladet’s opera award. The judges said: “The 86 musicians have succeeded in taking their orchestra to a place among the absolute elite in the world.” Following a tour of Japan this spring, the orchestra will pay a long-awaited visit to Vara Concert Hall among others.
The concert begins with Mozart's Symphony No. 31, also known as the Paris Symphony, a delightful piece of orchestral fireworks that Mozart composed at the age of 22 in order to make a lasting impression on his French audiences. The Paris Symphony is followed by Weber's romantic and virtuosic bassoon concerto featuring Soloist and Section Leader Sebastian Wagner. After the interlude, we are treated to Beethoven’s much-loved Symphony No. 6, also known as the Pastoral Symphony, often described as a life-affirming idyllic walk through the most beautiful of landscapes.
The orchestra is led by Fredrik Burstedt - one of Scandinavia’s most sought-after and dynamic young conductors. In 2017, Fredrik Burstedt won the Swedish Grammy Award for the Classical Album of the Year.
Premiere in August 2019.
On tour in the Västra Götaland region. Watch this space for tour locales and dates.
