Open house on the holidays!
Thursday 1 November, 10.30 am – 3.00 pm
This autumn break we open our doors to welcome all curious children and their parents. Brave the spooky storytelling tent, have a look at exciting rehearsals or peek behind the scenes, dress up in theatre costumes, decorate cupcakes, listen to our musicians and have a go at playing a brass instrument!
Our café is open all day. Lunch for children and adults will be served in the restaurant from 11:30am.
All activities are free, but many require a ticket for entry due to a limited number of places available. See below for details.

Programme for the day
Make-up and costume (no ticket required)Try on stage costumes and have a make-up artist paint a scary Halloween scar on your face.
Small Stage, 10.30am – 3.00pm
Free entertainment (no ticket required)
Harp concert in the Foyer, 11.00am, 12.30pm & 2.00pm.
Piano entertainment in the foyer with Bernard Matracki. 11.45am & 1.00pm
Activities which require tickets:
The activities below have a limited number of places, so require a ticket for entry. The tickets are free, and will be distributed on two occasions:
- 10.30am for the morning events
- 12.00pm for the afternoon events
Max. 2 activities per child and ticket.
NB: Meet outside the ticket office 10 minutes before the start of the activity.
Guided tour behind the scenes.
10.45am, 11.45am, 12.45pm and 1.45pm.
The tour takes about 45 minutes, and is presented in Swedish.
Decorate cupcakes! For children aged 6 and up.
10.45am, 11.15am, 12.15pm, 12.45pm, 1.15pm, 1.45pm – the activity runs for about 20 minutes.
Spooky tales in the Storytelling Tent, read by Ingahlill Wagelin.
For children aged 6 and up. (The tales are read in Swedish.)
Opera Bar. 11.30am, 1.30pm & 2.30pm.
Dance class for young people aged 15 and up. Held in English by two of the dancers from GöteborgsOperans Danskompani.
10.45– approx. 11.45.

11.00am, 11.30am, 12.15pm. The activity runs for approx. 15 mins.
Family workshop. For children from age 6 and up, with accompanying adult . (The workshop is presented in Swedish.)
11.00am–12.00pm & 1.00–2.00pm.
Open rehearsal of Wagner’s opera ‘Das Rheingold’ on the Main Stage.
Admission to the auditorium at 11.00am, 1.00pm and 2.00pm. Approx. 20 mins per viewing.
Open rehearsal with the Göteborg Opera Chorus.
11.15am, 12.00pm & 1.50pm – each viewing runs for approx. 20 minutes.
