Northern (de)Lights 2016
Creations by Adolphe Binder, Marcos Morau, Satoko Takahashi and Arika Yamada/ Spenser Theberge. Spoken dialogue in English.
This season’s Northern (de)Lights will be the third edition. The concept stands for surprising, challenging and exploring dance art – always connected to the overall theme of the dance season.
In Northern (de)Lights 2016, five artists have created four pieces on the theme of the 2015/2016 season: All together now/A common sense, which continues to explore the answer to the great question: What does it mean to be a human in today’s society?
Adolphe Binder will create the physical drama imperfekt.in flux.no interval. The piece (which contains a small degree of audience participation) reflects on the dynamics of power and borders, both as system and as psychological internalisation. many much more., by Spenser Theberge and Arika Yamada, dancers in the company, will give each visitor a unique experience. What is revealed and what is hidden will vary with the seating in the auditorium. Satoko Takahashi is also a dancer in GöteborgsOperans Danskompani. She will create the comic piece Velours gris for three of her colleagues. Multiple award-winning artist Marcos Morau created the witty and absurd duet Zelenstova for an international choreography competition in 2013.
The photo exhibition Humans & flowers by dancer Lee-Yan Tu will also be a part of Northern (de)Lights 2016. The exhibition will be shown in our foyer 26 February–15 March (free admission).
