NOETIC+
Three dance favourites on passion, instinct and consolation. Interfacial Scale, Your Passion is Pure Joy to Me and Noetic – three highly acclaimed dance performances presented in a new context.
“An evening where the dancers can really show what they are the best at”— Göteborgs-Posten
“an unforgettable experience”— Kulturnytt
“The dancers’ interplay is fantastic”— Expressen
These three works are a selection of our favourites, exemplifying the dance company's rapid development within the field of contemporary dance. All of them were created exclusively for GöteborgsOperans Danskompani.
Interfacial Scale
Yoshihiro Hanno’s specially composed music turns 'Interfacial Scale' into something really special.— Svenska Dagbladet (2013)
First up is Interfacial Scale by Hiroaki Umeda, from the programme Out of Mind (2013). The work, which explores the interface between dance and the unknown on the other side of dance, is inspired by tacit knowledge and swarm behaviour. The beautiful, cinematic music was composed for The Göteborg Opera Orchestra by Yoshihiro Hanno. Interfacial Scale was selected to be presented at the Ice Hot Biennale in Oslo in 2014.

Your Passion is Pure Joy to Me
The dizzying duet at the end is still a favourite— Göteborgs-Posten
After a long break from our stage, Your Passion Is Pure Joy to Me has returned – Stijn Celis’ choreography performed to music by Nick Cave. This piece was included in the programme In Memoriam (2009) and has toured the United States and Belgium, but has not been shown at The Göteborg Opera for six years. After the premiere, Göteborgs-Posten wrote: “The embrace lingers as a memory that settles at the centre of your heart.” Göteborgs-Tidningen wrote: “More, more Stijn Celis for the people of Göteborg.” Your wish is our command.

NOETIC
Superb dance, on the intersection between energetic delirium and ice-cold precision— Göteborgs-Posten
To wrap up this year’s favourites collection is Noetic from the Spirit programme, which since its world premiere in Gothenburg in spring 2014, has been a great success for our dance company at theatres and festivals worldwide. Now it’s back under our roof at The Göteborg Opera, with Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui’s choreography and Antony Gormley’s set design, Szymon Brzoska’s specially composed music, the Japanese traditional musician Shogo Yoshii and singer Miriam Andersén.
