The Göteborg Opera Orchestra & guests from Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra

30 november 2014, 4:00-7:30 pm

Main Stage, Small Stage and Foyer.

In this film clip Henrik Schaefer, musical director for The Göteborg Opera Orchestra, describes the concept behind Close Encounter (in Swedish)

Close Encounter begins with Serenade, a one hour program with ensemble music by Hindemith, Strauss and Adams.

Following this act are a number of smaller walk-in concerts. These will be held up on the back-side of Main Stage as well as on the Small Stage. You come and go as you please and have plenty of time to enjoy more than one. Here you’ll find compositions by Wagner, Strauss, Jolivet and Caplet, among others. There is also time to dine, snack or mingle in The Göteborg Opera Restaurant.

The second act of the main concert, Metamorphosis, contains beautiful and melancholic music: Strauss’ Metamorphosen and Wagner’s Wesendonck-Lieder.

The Göteborg Opera Orchestra plays together with musicians Stefan Dohr and Ludwig Quandt from the renowned Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. The concert on the Main Stage is conducted by Stanley Dodds, from the very same orchestra.

Join us in this celebration of the chamber music repertoire, Richard Strauss’ 150th anniversary and take the chance to come closer to the 86 musicians of The Göteborg Opera Orchestra!
