Mozart & Beethoven
The Göteborg Opera Orchestra on tour
Late summer days will take on an added bit of sparkle when our orchestra plays the timeless music of two giants of the classical world: Mozart’s beautiful Clarinet Concerto and Beethoven’s dramatic Symphony No. 5 in C minor.
With his Clarinet Concerto in A major, Mozart gave the clarinet its own voice. Written in 1791, the concerto was his final purely instrumental work and is perhaps the most elegant composed for a woodwind instrument.
Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony begins with four unmistakeable notes – Da-da-da-dummmm! – a knock on fate’s door. From this opening phrase the listener is rapt, embarking on a journey from the primal darkness of night to brilliant triumph.
Beethoven’s 5th is one of the world's most widely played symphonies. Together with Mozart’s gripping clarinet concerto, this will be an experience to linger long in the memory.
