”Sacre” by Roy Assaf
6 August
The dancers’ gaze, expression and interaction are perfect— SvD
The dancers are superbly precise and exquisitely provocative— DN
GöteborgsOperans Danskompani kick-off the 19/20 season with a performance of "Sacre" by multi-awarded, Israeli choreographer Roy Assaf. Assaf is well-known for his gender perspective on dance. His raving Sacre – performed to Stravinsky’s explosive The Rite of Spring – is performed by either an all-female or all-male cast. It seduces, entertains and eludes, ending in an surprising sacrifice.
This evening the male cast will be performing "Sacre", accompanied on stage by the Gothenburg Opera Orchestra who perform Stravinsky's music live on stage.
