Britten, Baroque and Choral Favourites
A brilliant evening with magnificent opera chorals and British baroque gems.
In carefully selected pieces from some of the most beloved operas the Göteborg Opera Chorus show what they got. Join in Verdi's swirling drinking song from ”La traviata”, Donizetti's Servant Chorus from ”Don Pasquale” and Wagner's Spinning Chorus from ”The Flying Dutchman” – choral pieces that will take your breath away and show the greatness of the composers.
After the intermission, you will experience selected gems from Benjamin Britten’s ”A Midsummer Night's Dream” followed by his arrangement of Henry Purcell’s enchanting ”The Fairy Queen”.
Soloists are tenor Paul Nilon, who last visited us in 2016 in the title role of Mozart's Idomeneo, and the sought-after countertenor Daniel Carlsson. Tecwyn Evans conducts.
