A performance of La Cenerentola ensures a fabulous night at the opera! The more than 1000-year old fairytale, rewritten and revised by the foremost storytellers in the world, has been given a humorous, dramatic and musical frame by the Italian Opera Master Gioacchino Rossini. The opera is performed all over the world and is now produced for the first time at the Göteborg Opera.

The Göteborg Opera's in-house director David Radok has previously directed the two very successful productions of Rossini's comedies Il Viaggio a Reims and Il Barbieri di Siviglia. We hope that La Cenerentola will be our lucky number three.

David Radok has again worked with Ivan Theimer, Torkel Blomkvist and Katarina Hollá for the setting, lighting and costume. Choreographer is Håkan Mayer and conductors are the Rossini specialist Giancarlo Andretta and the Opera's own Artistic Director Kjell Ingebretsen.

The equilibristic title role is sung by Paula Hoffmann. We have two additional guest artists, Markus Schwartz as Don Magnifico, the father of La Cenerentola, and Helge Rönning as the Prince. Dandini is sung by Åke Zetterström and Alidoro by Michael Schmidberger. The two mean step sisters are sung by the unique constellation soprano - tenor with Carolina Sandgren as Clorinda and Ingemar Anderson as Tisbe.
