Intro|ductions and panel discus|sions
Take the opportunity to learn more about the performance and get a more in-depth insight into the story and the background.
The introductions are popular, so come early. They take place either on the Small Stage or in the Opera Bar an hour before opera and dance performances (but are not held before premieres, guest performances or dance performances which have a physical introduction).
Introductions do not cost anything extra, use your performance ticket to enter. Introduction take about 20 minutes and are presented in Swedish.
Physical introductions to dance performances
GöteborgsOperans Danskompani now offers the participatory format of physical introduction to everyone interested in deepening their insight into the dance company’s performances. Physical introductions are held in English.
Open for everyone, these 45 min long physical explorations are a way of entering and experiencing various choreographic approaches, movement principles and aesthetic signatures. The physical engagement of audience members allows for a different perceptual contact with the performance, inviting the participants to connect and experiment within the physical (rather than just the visual) perspectives various works embody.
Led by the dancers of the company, physical introductions extend the performing space into a participatory experience for everyone, creating possibilities for a multitude of personal sensorial insights and exchanges.
Dress Code: None. You may wear the same clothes as when going to see the performance. (Please note, we will ask you to take off your shoes.)
Free entry with ticket, limited number of places (50 max).
See each show page for instructions on how to book tickets.
The format is created and practiced by the MA Contemporary Dance Education (MA CoDE) at Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt am Main. With the aim to remain in close collaboration and to foster further development of the format it is handed over by Prof. Ingo Diehl and Anja Bornsek for facilitation purposes to GöteborgsOperans Danskompani.
Panel discussions and seminars
About one week before premieres we hold free panel discussions. At these discussions the artistic team and soloists or dancers talk about their work. Often an expert guest is invited to give a special perspective on the production. It could be a language professor, an architect, an art historian or perhaps a singer or dancer who have played the role earlier in their career.
These discussions take place on the Small Stage a week or two before the premiere. The chair for the opera panels is The Göteborg Opera's dramaturgist, Göran Gademan.
Free admission. Some talks are held in English.
Most panel discussions are recorded for streaming on opera.se/podd and Soundcloud.
