In the opera house there are two bars to choose between. Mingle a while in the Cocktail Bar or try the menu and feel the atmosphere in the new Opera Bar.
Mingle by the sea.
The Cocktail Bar is on the ground floor with a view over the harbour. The proximity to both the restaurant and the foyer has made the Cocktail Bar a popular place in which to mingle. Place your order an hour before the performance to avoid having to stand in a queue during the interval.
The Star of the Opera has had a face-lift.
The Opera Bar was refitted in 2009 and has a totally new look. You will find it on the second floor just above the main entrance. We open two hours before the performance and we are also open afterwards so that you can round off the evening in a pleasant way.
"The Opera Bar has its own chef and serves a wonderful menu with classics such as whitefish roe on toast or an open shrimp sandwich. There is also a special wine list with several unusual labels served by the glass. 70 percent of the wines are organically or bio-dynamically cultivated,” Ousienou Mbye, head waiter at the Göteborg Opera, tells us.
If you wish to eat during the interval or after the performance you can reserve a table on the spot an hour before the curtain rises. If you only wish to have a drink you can of course order at the bar.
