"The fact that the food to a large extent is organic has met with a very positive response." Almost 40 percent of the groceries that are purchased for the Göteborg Opera's kitchen are organic or locally produced. This makes for a vibrant menu with seasonal variation.
The restaurant opens 2.5 hours before performances (special opening hours for matinées). Lunch weekdays 11.30-14.00.
The OperaBar opens 2 hours before a performance begins. It is not open to the public on premiere evenings.

The restaurant opens two and a half hours before the curtain rises. If you wish you can eat your starter and main course before the performance and save the coffee and dessert for the interval. We have room for 150 guests and all of the tables have a view of the Göta River.
A small practical but important detail is that the food is always served in good time before the performance so that you can eat at your own pace and without stress. “The guests are here for the food and the performance and they get a fantastic experience,” says Ousienou Mbye, Deputy Restaurant Manager at the Göteborg Opera.

The Nordic Ecolabel applies to all operations managed by the Göteborg Opera Restaurant: the restaurant itself, the cafés, bars, kitchen and staff canteen. The Nordic Ecolabel takes into account the entire life cycle of the restaurant operations, from the purchase of raw goods to waste management and everything in between. This means that the food served at The Göteborg Opera is organic, locally sourced and Fair Trade certified, that the cleaning products in the kitchen are the very best from an environmental standpoint and that the use of electricity is controlled and comes from 100% renewable sources.

Even on evenings when there are no performances we can treat you to festivities and glamour. The Guldbagge Award Gala, the christening of the Swedish ship Götheborg and the World Childhood Foundation's tenth anniversary are all examples of events that the Göteborg Opera has organised.
