Creation by Marcos Morau
“The dancers’ presence never wavers for a second”— Göteborgs-Posten
“Visually stylish”— Svenska Dagbladet
Spaniard Marcos Morau and his creative collective La Veronal are known for creating works with a sophisticated, entertaining and somewhat absurd style. Rothko Chapel, created for GöteborgsOperans Danskompani, is a grandiose journey through art, life and death.
Rothko Chapel, designed by artist Mark Rothko, is an interreligious chapel welcoming people from all religions, as well as those without religious beliefs. I love the connection between the human presence, art and religion. I believe art and religion meet where words end. Words are limiting; art is not. I want to take the audience on a journey through art, death and life. And life is Rothko Chapel.
