Première at the Göteborg Opera on 20 August at 6.00 pm.
The powerful chief of the Huns, Attila, and the vindictive Odabella stand centre-stage when the Göteborg Opera introduces its new season of opera.
In a concertante version of the Verdi opera Attila we will hear the Göteborg Opera's bass soloist Anders Lorentzson in the title role. His most recent portrayal was as Raimondo in the Göteborg Opera's acclaimed production of Lucia di Lammermoor and prior to that the powerful King Filip II in the equally acclaimed production of Don Carlos. In the role of Odabella, Italian soprano Francesca Patanè is making her return after gaining great acclaim in the role of Lady Macbeth in the Göteborg Opera's Macbeth in 2008.
Attila was a great success when it originally premièred in 1846 and is now experiencing a renaissance at opera houses around the world. This Bel Canto opera is conducted by the Göteborg Opera's own specialist in the genre – First Guest Conductor Giancarlo Andretta. Attila is also being performed on Sunday 21 August at 6.00 pm.
