From Prokofiev to Beethoven via Stravinsky and Lloyd Webber. We have now released the tickets to the autumn performances at The Göteborg Opera.
The family concert Peter and the Wolf by Prokofiev marks the start of the season on the Main Stage in August. The following week we will see a concertante version of Rossini’s opera buffa masterpiece The Italian Girl in Algiers. Our operatic autumn continues with Stravinsky’s demonic/comic opera The Rake’s Progress and Verdi’s magnificent historical opera Don Carlos. We also get to see a completely new musical theatre play called Fru Mozart (Mrs Mozart), which after premiering and completing its run at the Skövde Stage will tour regionally.
The Göteborg Ballet continues to be at the forefront of contemporary dance with a long line of world premieres. The dance season starts off with two new productions by Fernando Melo and Rui Horta in the production Einstien and the guest house. The ballet company’s dancers perform their own Workshop 2010 at Pustervik before it is time for Marco Goecke’s and Lukáš Timulak’s interpretation of Beethoven in new production Eroica just before Christmas. The Göteborg Opera Orchestra and concert pianist Roland Pöntinen will also participate in the production.
Andrew Lloyd Webber’s 1950’s inspired Hollywood musical Sunset Boulevard, starring Gunilla Backman, premieres in October and will run until April 2011. At the beginning of December The Göteborg Opera Orchestra and conductor Shao-Chia Lü will perform an Orchestra Concert, featuring Mahler’s Symphony No. 9.
Welcome to The Göteborg Opera this autumn!
