Now The Göteborg Opera Children’s Choir is getting started.
On 28 September, 35 children between the ages of eight and ten will be gathering at The Göteborg Opera. From the current season onwards they will constitute The Göteborg Opera Children’s Choir.
The young singing talents were selected during an audition earlier on this autumn. The Children’s Choir will meet and rehearse at The Göteborg Opera one evening a week. The choir leader is Ida Rosén.
– The idea of a children’s choir is to allow children to experience how wonderful it is to sing. The choir will give its own concerts but will also be able to participate in productions in the opera house,” says opera director, Lise-Lotte Axelsson.
The Children’s Choir is a part of the opera house’s new focus on young people. GöteborgsOperan’s Mia Ringblom Hjertner is responsible for the venture and will function as communicator, coordinator, networker and also in some cases as director. She will also assist Ida Rosén in her work with the children's choir and help them with stage exercises. The first performance given by The Göteborg Opera Children’s Choir will be in connection with the twentieth anniversary of The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child in November. More information about this will be given later.
