GöteborgsOperan Skapa has ongoing collaborations with the Red Cross, Share Music & Performing Arts, and adult education colleges in Göteborg and the Västra Götaland region.
GöteborgsOperan’s collaboration with the Red Cross began in autumn 2014. In spring 2017, there’s lots happening! We’re looking for people who like to sing and for folk songs from around the world. Get involved!
We’re looking for songs from around the world!
We’re starting a new international choir in spring 2017 as part of the collaboration between GöteborgsOperan and the Red Cross. We’re now collecting suggestions for folk songs from people who live in Göteborg and come from all over the world. Some of the songs will be selected and sung by a new international choir in brand new versions. Do you want to hear a folk song from your country performed on stage at GöteborgsOperan? Send your suggestions, either by email or at our song-collecting workshop in March. Please read more on the information sheet below. It’s available in Arabic, English, Somali and Swedish. You can also get in touch if you have questions. Email firstname.lastname@example.org

The International Choir
It’s not long now until we kick off GöteborgsOperan’s and the Red Cross’ new international choir! This time it’ll be the same exciting mix of people, professionals and amateurs, languages and nationalities that have characterized our previous choirs. New in 2017 is that we’ll also be working with a director throughout the rehearsal period to create fine staged concerts. If you like singing with other people or want to try it, and you like meeting people from other countries, please read the information sheet below. It’s available in Arabic, English, Persian, Somali and Swedish.
Send in your expression of interest today! You can also get in touch if you have questions. Email email@example.com
Last date for expressions of interest is 20 March 2017.

Q&A: the international choir 2017
Who can take part in the international choir?
The choir is for people who like singing or want to try it. You don’t need any previous experience. It’s important that you can take part in the rehearsals and concerts. Other than that, and given that we anticipate many expressions of interest, how do we select participants? We’re aiming for a mix of different ages, languages, nationalities and backgrounds in the choir. We want our work to remain open to new participants and will therefore accept a limited number of people who’ve taken part in previous projects. On an informal basis, they’ll then be mentors for other, new singers. Being a mentor means, for example, being extra friendly, working on learning names and committing to helping new singers at rehearsals if needed.
When can I send my expression of interest?
You can send your expression of interest today! The last date is 20 March. Everyone will receive confirmation as to whether they have a place in the choir or not by 24 March at the latest. The first rehearsal date 4 April. When you send your expression of interest, we’ll ask a few simple questions to help us create an exciting choir that mirrors the people living in Göteborg today.
