Susanne Resmark has been performing regularly for several years on the world's great opera and concert stages, including The Göteborg Opera, where she most recently played the role of Jezibaba in Rusalka in 2012. She studied at the Malmö Academy of Music and the Royal Academy of Opera in Copenhagen and, since 2001, she has been a member of the ensemble of soloists at the Royal Danish Theatre in Copenhagen. Resmark's extensive repertoire includes roles such as Azucena in Il trovatore, Eboli in Don Carlos, Amneris in Aida, Ulrika in Un ballo in maschera, Clytaemnestra in Electra, Ortrud in Lohengrin, Venus in Tannhäuser, Amman in Die Frau ohne Schatten, Fricka and Erda in Wagner's Der Ring des Nibelungen, Jezibaba in Rusalka, Kabanicha in Katya Kabanová and Kostelnicka in Jenufa. She was sensational in her 2002 role as Mescalina in Ligeti's opera Le Grand Macabre at the Royal Danish, which led on to her USA début in the same role at the San Francisco Opera in 2004.
Susanne Resmark is a regular guest performer at venues such as the Salzburg Festival, Bayerische Staatsoper, Staatsoper Unter den Linden, Glyndebourne, Metropolitan and La Scala. At The Göteborg Opera she has sung Mary in The Flying Dutchman, Herodias in Salome, Ulrika in Un ballo in maschera, Mrs Quickly in Falstaff, Kabanicha in Katya Kabanová and Eboli in Don Carlos. Susanne Resmark is also regularly engaged as a soloist for concert performances and is represented on a number of DVD and CD recordings. In 2007, she was appointed a Knight of the Order of the Dannebrog, a Danish honour conferred on people who have made a particular contribution to various fields including the arts; she was also awarded the Birgit Nilsson Scholarship in 2002.
