Italian baritone Stefano Antonucci began his career as actor, followed by song studies at Conservatorio Niccolò Paganini in Genoa. In 1988 he made is debut at Teatro alla Scala in Milan as Marcello in La Bohème and has since then performed at opera houses in Turin, Bologna, Florence, Rome, Berlin, Münich, Vienna, Brussels, Paris, Monte Carlo and Saint Petersburg among others. He has worked with conductors such as Georg Solti, Lorin Maazel and Daniele Gatti.
Focusing on the Italian repertoire, Stefano has sung roles such as Germont in La Traviata, Rodrigo in Don Carlos, Ford in Falstaff, Count Luna in Il Trovatore, Don Carlo in La forza del destino, Renato in Un ballo di maschera, Sharpless in Madama Butterfly, Tonio in Pajazzo, Eisenstein in Die Fledermaus, Valentin in Faust and the title roles of Rigoletto, Simon Boccanegra and Macbeth.
The recent seasons include La Traviata in Santiago de Chile, Montpellier, Genova, Bologna, Teneriffa and Torre del Lago, Rigoletto in Zürich, Tel Aviv, Terme di Caracalla in Rome and Genova as well as Michonnet in Adriana Lecouvreur and Marcello in La Bohème in Florence.
He recorded Mercadante's Virginia for Opera Rara (2008) and Donizetti's Adelia for BMG-Ricordi.
