Philipp Contag-Lada, who hails from Stuttgart, has worked since 1993 as a projectionist and media artist at theaters and museums across Europe. He teaches at a number of institutions and works with colleagues under the label 7pc to create exhibition concepts for industrial and other clients. His specialty is the development of new technical and aesthetic innovations, which he has exhibited at such venues as Art Cologne.
In 2016 Philipp Contag-Lada collaborated with Stijn Celis on two ballet productions for the Saarländisches Staatstheater in Saarbrücken: West Side Story and the ballet Goldberg. He has also worked with artists such as Philippe Arlaud, Gudrun Schretzmeier, John Dew, Heinz Balthes, Werner Schroeter, Birgitta Trommler and Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, and recently especially with Florian Parbs on several well-received projects involving virtual spaces. For the 2016–27 season he is creating video projections for a new production of Salome at the Dresden Semperoper.
