Monica Einarson is well known in Sweden and the other Nordic countries because of her leading roles on TV and on stages in cities including Stockholm, Malmö and Copenhagen. At the Göteborg Opera, she has previously played roles such as the Mother Superior in The Sound of Music and Miss Andrew in Mary Poppins. Monica trained at the Gothenburg School of Music where she made her debut as a soloist at Stora Teatern as Eliza in My Fair Lady in 1990. At the Oscars Theatre in Stockholm she has appeared in 765 performances of Phantom of the Opera, of which around 40 have been in the principal role of Christine. At Göta Lejon, she played Elsa Schröder and the Mother Superior in The Sound of Music and Principal Lynch in Grease. At Malmö Opera, she has played a number of roles, Frume Sarah in Fiddler on the Roof, the Mayoress in Dario Fo's Inte alla tjuvar kommer för att stjäla (Eng: The Virtuous Burglar), Tosan in Träskoprinsessan, Chatelaine Elvira in the recently written "operal" Trollguld, Madame Hortense in Zorba and most recently in the breeches role (her first) of Fredrik Gyllenborg, in the recent opera Hemligheter, by Jonas Forsell. At Slagthuset in Malmö, Monica has played the principal role of Anna Leonowens in The King and I. In Copenhagen, she has sung Madame Giry in Phantom of the Opera at Det Ny Teater. Familiar to the large public audience, she became a song coach and Principal in Sweden's TV3 series Fame Factory. As a singing coach, she has also worked at most of the theatres in the Nordic region, including the Göteborg Opera.
