Mia Karlsson, soprano, received her training at the University College of Music in Ingesund, Operastudio 67 and at the Stockholm University College of Opera, where she graduated in 2005.
Her debut was in 2004 in the role of Koloratura in Vadstena-Akademien's production of Lundén-Welden’s newly-written Opus Opera followed by the First Lady in a short version of The Magic Flute at the Nobel Award Ceremony. Since then she has sung Gilda in Rigoletto and Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi at the Folkopera in Stockholm and Olympia in The Tales of Hoffmann at Det Kongelige Teater in Copenhagen.
She has also performed at the Messiah Festival in Kansas, USA, together with Håkan Hagegård.
At The Göteborg Opera Mia Karlsson has sung the woman on watch in Die Frau ohne Schatten and The First Esquire and The First Flower Maiden in Parsifal, The First Lady in The Magic Flute, Elvira in L’italiana in Algeri and Tebaldo/A Voice From Heaven in Don Carlos. In the 2012/2013 season, she sings The First Nymph in Rusalka.
She has been awarded a number of scholarships, including The Jenny Lind Scholarship in 2005.
