Mariko Kida

Mariko Kida, dancer. Mariko Kida was born in Osaka, Japan where she started her Ballet training. Mariko studied at San Francisco Ballet School after winning the Prix de Lausanne. She danced with Alberta Ballet and Les Grands Ballets Canadiens as first soloist and has danced leading roles in ballets by George Balanchine, Jean-Christophe Maillot, Jiri Kylian, Mats Ek, Ohad Naharin and many others. Since she joined the Göteborg Ballet in 2009, she danced Aurora in Mats Ek's Seeping Beauty and appeared in the creations by Alexander Ekman and Medhi Walerski, Fernando Melo, Örjan Andersson and Stijn Celis. She was selected for one of "25 to watch, 2006" by Dance Magazine (USA) and also "Outstanding dancers of the year 2010" by Dance Europe Magazine.
