Kazunari Abe

Kazunari Abe is a poetic artist, musician and composer born in 1974 in Japan and based there. He plays the Shino-bue, a traditional Japanese flute made of bamboo. The inspiration for his music comes from nature, folk entertainment and prayers of the living and dead. He participated in the Japanese taiko drumming group KODO between 1995-2009, playing with the group in 23 countries. In autumn 2009, he came back to his birthplace, Niihama, to reconnect with his roots. Soon, he met Frightened Cellar, a Brooklyn based piano artist. The two formed the band Sora Ocean, recorded an album and toured Japan. Kazunari Abe joined Eastman in 2010 and performs in Babel(words), Play and Puz/zle.
