Katarina Giotas received part of her training at Stockholm University College of Opera, where she qualified in 2000. She had her debut in 1998 at Confidencen in Stockholm as Cherubino in The Marriage of Figaro, a role she also performed with great success at Folkoperan and The Göteborg Opera. In the autumn of 1999 she had her debut at The Royal Swedish Opera as Don Ramiro in Mozart’s La Finta Giardiniera.
Among her other roles we may mention Lucilla in Rossini’s La Scala di Seta with The European Opera Center and at Malmö Opera, Carmen with Parkteatern in Stockholm, Polly in The Threepenny Opera and Marguerite in the musical The Scarlet Pimpernel at Östgötateatern, Fenena in Nabucco and Dorabella in Cosí fan tutte at Värmlandsoperan, Lazulí in Horoskopet and Queen Kristina in Magnus Gabriel, both at the Läckö Castle Opera. She has also performed the role of Ma in Orpheus in der Unterwelt and the leading role in Fedra at Folkoperan, The Third Lady in The Magic Flute at The Royal Opera and Fadela in Daniel Börtz’ Svall.
At The Göteborg Opera Katarina Giotas has sung Suzuki in Madame Butterfly, Cherubino in The Marriage of Figaro (1999 and 2008), Fjodor in Boris Godunov, Amschel in K. Beskrivning av en kamp (Description of a Struggle) as well as most recently the double role of the Duchess of Osuna and Leocadia in Daniel Börtz newly-written opera Goya.
