Karolina Andersson trained at the Academy of Music and Drama in Gothenburg, graduating in 2007. Previous roles include The Queen of Night in The Magic Flute, Gilda in Rigoletto, Ninetta in The Thieving Magpie (La Gazza Ladra), the Governess in The Turn of the Screw, Blonde in The Abduction from the Harem, Miss Wordsworth in Albert Herring, Lucy in The Phone, and La Stonatrilla in L’Opera Seria along with roles in two world premieres: Annette in Faust by Philippe Fénelon and Ophelia in Hamlet by Christian Jost.
Between 2007 and 2009 Karolina worked at the Komische Oper in Berlin. She has also performed at Staatsoper Berlin, Opéra National de Paris, Théâtre du Capitole Toulouse, the Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm, The Göteborg Opera, Läckö Castle Opera and many others.
During the 2011/12 season, her roles include Gilda in Rigoletto at Komische Oper Berlin, The Queen of Night at Staatstheater Kassel and the Volksoper in Vienna, and Graziella in Detlev Glanert’s opera Joseph Süss at Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz in Munich.
Karolina Andersson debuted at The Göteborg Opera in the role of The Queen of Night at the premiere of this production in 2009. She also regularly performs as a soloist in oratorios and concerts. Karolina has received several awards, including the Royal Swedish Academy of Music Christina Nilsson grant and the Sten A Olsson Cultural Grant.
