Karin Mårtenson trained on the Ballet Academy's 3-year musical artists course and after that at the University of Gothenburg Academy of Music and Drama, from which she graduated in spring 2011. The first time she appeared on the Main Stage at the Göteborg Opera was while she was a student, when she performed as a dancer several times, for example, in TSO's Våryra which is traditionally held every year. Later, Karin performed in two of the Göteborg Opera's musicals, Sunset Boulevard in the role of Heather, and in West Side Story in which she played the role of Graziella. Last spring, she could be seen as Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme in the acclaimed Sondheim musical Assassins at Södra Teatern in Stockholm. Karin is involved in the Gothenburg-based independent musical theatre group, Riskteatern, which endeavours to promote unknown and new musical drama. She has performed in their latest productions The Wild Party and Rebellas Skatt, with a new exciting project awaiting in spring 2014. In recent years, Karin Mårtenson has also appeared as a singer in a number of summer and Christmas concerts throughout Sweden.
