Jonas Olofsson, tenor, studied at the Musikhögskola and the Operahögskola in Gothenburg. From 2003–05 he was a member of the opera studio at the Staatsoper in Hamburg, where he participated in a number of productions. Since 2005 Olofsson has worked as a freelance opera singer. His roles have included the Priest in Riket är ditt by Jonas Forssell, Tom Rakewell in The Rake’s Progress, Arrhenius and Köningsmark in Magnus Gabriel by Daniel Börtz for the Läckö Castle Opera, and Borsa in Rigoletto at the Wermland Opera. At the Staatsoper, Olofsson performed the role of Louis Ironside in the German premiere of Angels in America by Peter Eötvös in 2005. He reprised the role at the Muziekgebouw in Amsterdam and the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles.
At the Göteborg Opera, he has sung the roles of Moser in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, the Fourth Jew in Salome, Spoletta in Tosca, Rustighello in Lucrezia Borgia, and most recently Squeak in Billy Budd, in 2013. Olofsson also performs frequently in concerts and oratorios. In the upcoming 2015–16 season Olofsson will sing the roles of Vitek in The Makropulos Affair, Goro in Madama Butterfly, and Malcom in Macbeth here at the Göteborg Opera.
