Ida Falk Winland

Ida Falk Winland, soprano, has been engaged by The Göteborg Opera for a five-year period starting with the 2013-2014 season. Her operatic roles include Pamina in The Magic Flute at the Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm; she made her début at Teatro alla Scala in Milan as the First Niece in Peter Grimes with Robin Ticciati; and in addition Laoula in L’Étoile at Den Nye Opera in Bergen, and Romilda in Xerxes at the Royal Swedish Opera. She made her first appearance at the Glyndebourne Festival as The Dew Fairy in Hansel and Gretel. At the Göteborg Opera, Ida Falk Winland has previously played Morgana in Alcina under Laurence Cumming's direction and made her first appearance in the role of Cleopatra in Giulio Cesare. In the 2012/2013 season, she played Rosina in The Barber of Seville.

In a concert context, Ida Falk Winland has appeared with some of the world's most prominent conductors and orchestras, including Orchestre National de Paris under the direction of Sofi Jeannin, the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra in Stockholm with Sakari Oramo, Orchestra e Coro del Teatro La Fenice with Marc Minkowski, the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Gustavo Dudamel and the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra with Daniel Harding and Orchestre National de Paris with Sofi Jeannin.

Her most recent engagements include Cecily in The Importance of Being Earnest at the Royal Opera in London, Donna Anna in Don Giovanni at the Helsinki Festival, Cunégonde in Candide at Opera National de Lorraine, as well as touring and recording Bach's Mass in B Minor with Arcangelo, the chamber music ensemble, under the direction of Jonathan Cohen for Hyperion Records. Ida Falk Winland studied under Lillian Watson at the Benjamin Britten International Opera School (Royal College of Music), and at the National Opera Studio.
