George Souglides was born in Cyprus. He studied Interior/3D Design at Kingston University and Stage and Costume Design at Motley Theatre Design in London. He now lives in France.
He has worked internationally both in opera and in theatre. He has designed for the Salzburg Festival, Bregenz Festival, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Opera di Roma, Lisbon Opera, Malmö Opera, Scottish Opera, Opera Northern Ireland, Greek National Opera, Chicago Opera Theatre, The Royal Ballet, Scottish Ballet, Chichester Festival, National Theatre of Cyprus, National Theatre of Northern Greece, The Athens Festival, The Epidaurus Festival and many more.
He most recently designed Boris Godunov (Sets) at Savonlinna Festival, A Flowering Tree at Göteborg Opera, Cosi Fan Tutte at the Greek National Opera, The Golden Cockerel at Bergen National Opera, Tristan and Isolde at the Novaya Opera in Moscow and La Dispute at the National Theatre of Cyprus.
He has taken part in the Prague Quadrennial Theatre exhibition in 2007 and the exhibition Collaborators at the Vicoria and Albert Museum in London. In 2010 he had a solo exhibition, Le fil D’Arianne, in Uzes, France.
He is currently preparing Lohengrin at the Det Kongelige Teater in Copenhagen, A Flowering Tree in Lisbon, L’Italiana in Algeri at Garsington Opera, Il Turco in Italia at Bergen National Opera and Carmen for the Greek National Opera at the Athens Festival.
