soprano, qualified at the University College of Opera in Stockholm. While still a student, she sang Antonia in The Adventures of Hoffman at the Royal Swedish Opera and the title role in Carl Unander-Scharin's opera Byrgitta at the Vadstena Academy. After completing her studies, she had several seasons as soloist at Norrlandsoperan where she sang roles including Rusalka, Pamina in The Magic Flute, Liù in Turandot and Ellen in Peter Grimes.
Latterly, Elisabet has been heard singing Giorgetta in Il Tabarro, Rusalka and Madame Butterfly at the Finnish National Opera in Helsinki, Rusalka at Palacio des Bellas Artes in Mexico City, Elisabeth in Tannhäuser at the Norwegian National Opera in Oslo and in Tampere, Sieglinde in Die Walküre, Gutrune in Götterdämmerungat the Latvian National Opera, and Freya in Das Rheingold at the Opera in Leipzig – a role that she is also to sing during the Bayreuth Festival in the summer of 2013. Elisabeth and Sieglinde at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein are also among her future engagements for spring 2013.
Elisabet Strid has been awarded scholarships such as the Jenny Lind Scholarship, the Christina Nilsson Scholarship and the Swedish Wagner Society's Bayreuth Scholarship.
