Clive Bayley, bass, sings regularly with the major opera companies in a diverse repertoire spanning Monteverdi, Mozart, Verdi, Puccini, Berg, Britten, Birtwistle, Wagner and Ligeti.
His schedule for 2013/14 includes: Daland in Der Fliegende Holländer at the Royal Danish Theatre and 2014 opens with his debut at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, where he will sing the Doctor in Wozzeck and will continue with engagements throughout Europe like Peter Grimes as Swallow at Grange Park Opera.
Operatic engagements in 2012/13 included for example two Russian-composed roles at the Frankfurt Opera: Dosifej in Mussorgsky’s Khovanshchina, and Prokofiev’s The Gambler, in which he performs as the General; Sir Walter Raleigh in Britten’s Gloriana, at both the Hamburg Opera and the Royal Opera House. Appears regularly at prestigious opera houses like Covent Garden where he made his debut, and amongst other was engaged for a role in the world premiere of Harrison Birtwistles opera Gawain, at Bayrische Staatsoper, Glyndebourne, Opera North, Welsh National Opera and Opera National du Rhin, Strasbourg. At Frankfurt Opera he has sung Fasolt in David McVicar’s new production of Das Rheingold and Claggart in Richard Jones’s production of Billy Budd.
