Ann-Kristin Jones

Ann-Kristin Jones received her musical education at Norway’s University College of Music in Oslo as well as at the Opera Academy and the Soloist Class of The Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen. As of 2007 she is part of The Göteborg Opera’s resident soloist ensemble and has here sung in the role of Squire/Flower Maiden in Parsifal, Siebel in Faust, Cherubino in The Marriage of Figaro, Olga in Eugen Onegin and Sextus in Julius Caesar. This season Ann-Kristin Jones performs the role of Josefa in Daniel Börtz newly-written opera Goya.

Her debut was in 2001 with the leading role in Händel’s Orlando at Den Ny Opera in Esbjerg, following which she played Dorabella in Così fan tutte at the Ystad Opera, the Third Lady in Die Zauberflöte and Cherubino in The Marriage of Figaro at the Drottningholm Palace Theatre. At the Malmö Opera and Music Theatre she sang Siebel in Faust and Cherubino in The Marriage of Figaro.

Ann-Kristin Jones is also much in demand as a concert soloist within the romance, orchestra and sacred repertoires. In January 2007 she was a soloist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra in Disney Concert Hall, Los Angeles, in a production that was both composed and conducted by John Adams. In the summer of 2007 she toured France and Germany with Les Talens Lyriques and their conductor Christophe Rousset with the concertante performance of Monteverdi’s Il ritorno d´Ulisse. She has also worked with conductors such as Arnold Östman, Paul Hillier and Lars Ulrik Mortensen and with the Symphony Orchestras in Helsingborg, Odense and Sjaelland as well as Concerto Copenhagen, the Danish Radio’s RadioUnderholdningsOrkestret and the DalaSinfonietta. Ann-Kristin Jones was recently one of three finalists in the music competition Soloist Prize 2008, and in June she took fourth place in the Wilhelm Stenhammar International Singing Competition.
